The Brief
Forest Way School required a new double-classroom teaching block, inclusive of toilet facilities & landscaping; suitable for children with additional needs.
We had to be mindful of any works that could cause distress to the pupils and ensure that there would be no impact at all on their working environment.
We also had to overcome the issue of the levels in the proposed position with a deep slope of made up ground and existing services to be avoided.
The Solution
Taking on the full turn-key project, Hawker Construction Ltd ensured the design had been agreed via the Contracts administrator, with the external appearance matching the opposing buildings using cedral cladding and brickslip. Further works were completed to transform disused land to create an outdoor play facility accessible to all.
Collaborative working with the Contracts Administrator and end user, ensured that the project was completed within budget and agreed programme, with the building ready for the new school year.
TESTIMONIAL
The limited access provided logistical challenges and the existing services, rock and a steep slope of made up ground provided some significant challenges for our design and operations team to overcome. It’s a good job we love a challenge and the result was a great indoor and outdoor space for the school
