The Brief
Our Client required a new science block complete with prep rooms, offices, a library, toilets and breakout areas; all to completed under a design and build contract.
Following a collaborative and thorough design process the scope of works to be carried out included the demolition of an existing garage block, new services, foundations and car parking bays, complete with a retaining wall and paths to all sides of the building.
The Solution
There were many complexities dealt with throughout the project; these include especially challenging and unprecedented weather conditions and the discovery of an unknown gas main which required rediverting before continuing with the project works, whilst maintaining the programme.
The finished building has three types of external finishes (cladding, render and brick slip), internally there are two floors with a lift and toilets on both floors. The building is designed to the June 2022 building regs and is compliant with BB101”.
